« DomoSafety is a Swiss Start-up from the EPFL in Lausanne with the vision of enabling better care at home. We have developed a preventive-monitoring third generation care system for elderly people. We are currently engaged with a significant number of elderly residents with different levels of care need, this accessibility allow us to be very well positioned when it comes to understanding the project’s target population. Secondly. we have collected more than 10,000 hours of data that can be used to determine resident’s routines or other triggers for events. Lastly, we can be an important contributor for the integration of third party services by providing family, caregivers and doctors factual information about the end-user. »

Frances Hughes

Dr Frances Hughes RN, BA, MA, DNurs, Col (ret), JP, ONZM

«Power of data for change»

Dr Frances Hughes was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the International Council of Nurses in February 2016. Immediately prior to this, she held the role of Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, Queensland, Australia, and also served as Chief Nurse for New Zealand. From 2005-2011, Dr Hughes worked for the World Health Organization with 16 countries in the Pacific region, supporting them to develop policy and plans to improve mental health for consumers in the Pacific. Qualified as a general and psychiatric health nurse, Dr Hughes has a Doctor of Nursing degree from the University of Technology, Sydney. She has held senior roles for many years across a range of organisations and served as the Commandant Colonel for the Royal New Zealand Nursing Corp. Dr Hughes has an extensive publication record and has received several awards for her work.

Professor and Director of the Graduate Program in Health Informatics at the Federal University of Sao Paulo (UNIFESP)

Heimar de Fatima Marin has devoted her professional career to improving patient care using information and communication technologies. She is Professor and Director of the Graduate Program in Health Informatics at the Federal University of Sao Paulo (UNIFESP). Heimar Marin is former President of the Brazilian Society of Health Informatics, former Chair of the International Medical Informatics Association Nursing Informatics Special Interest Group and an International Fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics. She has over 250 publications and 13 books. As a professor, she has mentored over 20 PhD students, 32 Masters students, and 85 specialists in health and nursing informatics. She is a Fellow in Clinical Computing at the Center for Clinical Computing at Harvard Medical School and Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Medical Informatics.

you can help (small rivers flow into larger rivers)

Very good work is done in developing countries, which is worth being presented during international conferences like NI2016. For the researchers and the scientists it can be too expensive to present their work in Geneva. Many from India, Africa, South America, Russia, etc. are willing to present a paper at the conference.
